CBT Master Practicioner

I set up my practice in Cadiz in March 2020. To become a CBT therapist, I trained at the SDS Institute in London. This is a 2 year post graduate degree approved by the British Psychological Association (BSA), the British Association of Behavioural Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), and the British Association of Counselling and Psycotherapy (BACP).

I am registered with the BAPCP and am currently undergoing the accreditation process (which can take several years of professional supervision).

I hold qualifications in TQUK Level2 and Level3 Certificates in Counselling Skills (RQF).

I specialise in working with clients who live outside of the community where they grew up ("ex-pats"). I have lived abroad since I was a child, in several continents/countries over the years, with 17 years in Spain and five in the former Soviet Union. I understand the challenges that living in a foreign environment (foreign language, far from family and friends) can present. Not knowing how local mental health care services can be particularly challenging. Beyond that - each client is unique and therapy is tailored to their needs - be it addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, or facing life-changing events.

Prior to retraining as a therapist, I worked for twenty years on development projects in the former Soviet Union - post conflict reconciliation, open society and media development, as well as working as a documentary film maker for Aljazeera English. I hold a docorate and an undergraduate degree in International Relations. The jump from international relations to individual relations has been a fascinating and rewarding challenge. I feel privileged to be serving the local community in this way.
