CBT Practicioner

I set up my practice in Cadiz in March 2020. To become a CBT therapist, I trained at the SDS Institute in London. This is a 2 year post graduate degree approved by the British Psychological Association (BPA), the British Association of Behavioural Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), and the British Association of Counselling and Psycotherapy (BACP).

I am a registered member of the BAPCP. I am supervised by a UK based clinical psychologist who oversees my work to ensure best practice and the use of up to date methods.

I hold qualifications in TQUK Level2 and Level3 Certificates in Counselling Skills (RQF).

I specialise in working with clients who live outside of the community where they grew up ("ex-pats"). I have lived abroad since I was a child, in several continents/countries over the years, with 17 years in Spain and five in the former Soviet Union. I understand the challenges that living in a foreign environment entails, such as difficulties understanding the local language, or being far from family and friends. Not knowing how local mental health care services work can be particularly challenging. Beyond that - each client is unique and therapy is tailored to their needs - be it addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, or difficulties adapting to life-changing events.

Prior to retraining as a therapist, I worked for twenty years on development projects in the former Soviet Union - post conflict reconciliation, open society and media development, as well as working as a documentary film maker for Aljazeera English. I hold a docorate and an undergraduate degree in International Relations. The jump from international relations to individual relations has been a fascinating and rewarding challenge. I feel privileged to be serving the local community in this way.
